Alicia Angosto Guerrero, DVM (Exotic Animals)


Dr. Alicia Angosto Guerrero is a licensed veterinarian from Complutense University of Madrid. Completed a three-year residency in the Diagnostic Imaging Department and a one-year residency in the Cardiology Department at the same university. Holds several qualifications, including a Master’s degree in Medicine and Surgery of Exotic Animals, a diploma in Diagnostic Imaging of Exotic Animals and Wildlife, two postgraduate degrees in Cardiology (from Improve and ESAVS), and a diploma in Cardiology from UCM. Since 2011, she has directed the first ultrasound service for exotic animals, wildlife, and marine life throughout Spain, Europe, and various countries in Latin America. Since 2017, she has taught multiple postgraduate courses, diplomas, and master’s programs at European University, among others. She has spoken at congresses in London, Moscow, and numerous cities across Europe and Latin America. She is the author of the Atlas of Ultrasound in Exotic and Wild Animals and co-author of three additional books. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Complutense University of Madrid with her thesis focused on the South Atlantic bottlenose dolphin.  

Education:

  • Graduate in Veterinary Medicine from Complutense University of Madrid. 
  • Three-year internship in the Ultrasound Unit of the Diagnostic Imaging Department and one year of internship in the Cardiology Department, both at Complutense University of Madrid. 
  • Various advanced courses in Small Animal Ultrasound (Forvet). 
  • Two postgraduate degrees in Cardiology and Echocardiography (from Improve and ESAVS). 
  • Diploma in Small Animal Clinical Cardiology from UCM. 
  • One-year university-based Master’s degree in Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery.

Veterinary Experience:

  • Fifteen years of experience in domestic animal ultrasound and thirteen years performing ultrasounds on exotic animals, wildlife, and marine life. Currently working as a freelancer for various veterinary clinics specializing in exotic animals, as well as parks and aquariums throughout Spain, Europe, and Latin America. 
  • 2022-2024: Postgraduate and Master’s Professor at the European University. 
  • Speaker at CVDL in León, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil. 
  • Professor of the Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery of Exotic Animals at Forvetex (Spain) since 2017. 
  • Professor of the Postgraduate Course in Small Animal Ultrasound at the School of Imaging in Peru, with sessions in Lima, Bogotá, and Mexico City: 2021-2024. 
  • Professor of the 1st Postgraduate Specialization Course in Small Animal Ultrasound at AMVEPPA, Peru, 2017-2019. 
  • Speaker at the First Congress of Exotic Animal Medicine, Chile, 2019. 
  • Speaker at ICARE, London, 2019. 
  • Speaker at three ultrasound congresses in Moscow, Russia, in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
