Case of The Month
Subscribe to the Case of The Month:
Every month, SonoPath spotlights a compelling real-life veterinary case in our Case of the Month series—featuring striking ultrasound images, expert interpretations from Dr. Eric Lindquist, and detailed clinical insights you won’t find anywhere else. This is a growing collection of actual veterinary patients diagnosed through clinical sonography by Dr. Lindquist and his colleagues across the U.S., Canada, and Europe.
SonoPath's August Case of The Month:
Right Ectopic Ureter with Hydroureter and Severe Hydronephrosis in a 12-week-old intact male cockapoo
Cooper presented to Conestoga Animal Hospital due to consistent urinary leakage. He was able to urinate intentionally with a good stream but otherwise dribbles urine throughout the day. There was no improvement with Clavamox.
Bloodwork was unremarkable and his urinalysis showed normal concentrating ability with trace protein and 2–3 WBC/hpf. There was no bacteria present. An abdominal radiograph did not show any obvious urinary calculi. An abdominal ultrasound was performed by Dr. Renee Trionfetti showing hydronephrosis, hydroureter, and an ectopic right ureter. Dr. Eric Lindquist reviewed the study and recommended a CT scan to assess renal function and insertion site of the right ureter as well as to plan for surgical correction. The patient was referred for a CT scan and right nephrectomy with Blue Pearl Pet Hospital Wyomissing.

The SonoPath Wave
“Ultrasound travels through water smoothly. The best sonographers work through a case in a harmonic manner, just like a wave. Hence, the wave-shaped logo. But also, I’ve always believed in the quote: “Do whatever blows your hair back”. We can look at it as if we were surfing: SonoPath gives its clients a new perspective on how to do things faster, innovatively and more efficiently. One of the best feelings you’ll ever have is “getting tubed” while surfing the wave. Very similar to when diagnostically you put a patient in the right clinical direction and you can see the successful outcome – therefore a new wave of thinking™.”
– Dr. Eric C Lindquist, Founder & CEO of SonoPath
Working with Sonopath has been instrumental in our growth as the leading mobile veterinary advanced imaging company in the world. Their attention to detail and their accessibility for follow-up and feedback makes a difference in the outcome of our patients and makes the reliance of our referring doctors on our company stronger.
