Sara Brethel, DVM DACVIM (Cardiology)

Dr. Sara Brethel was born and raised in Long Island, New York. She received her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from SUNY Oswego and from there earned her veterinary degree from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Brethel continued her training with a rotating internship and speciality internship in Cardiology at the Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn, NY.  She then completed her cardiology residency at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her Diplomate status from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 2022 and works in Charlotte, North Carolina at a busy private practice. 

Her interests include management of end stage congestive heart failure, exotic animal cardiology, and arrhythmias. Outside of work, she loves to explore her city with her husband and son trying new restaurants and breweries. She also enjoys cooking and baking at home. She has an energetic Schnauzer mix and two cats at home.
