After Vet school I had a clear vision that I wanted to have a closer look into oncology and therefore I started my doctoral thesis in this field. The study took place as collaboration between the Human Hospital and the Oncology Department at the Vet school in Zurich and the topic was Photodynamic Therapy (2003-2005). During this time my interest in oncology was confirmed. Therefore I started a Residency in Radiation Oncology at the University in Zurich and I completed the Residency at Colorado State University. Since 2007 I am a board certified Radiation Oncologist. I gained further experience as an Assistant Professor in Oncology at Louisiana State University before coming back to Europe to become Head of the Radiation Oncology Department of the Animal Oncology and Imaging Center in Switzerland. In 2009, I spent some months in Bologna to set up the first radiation facility in Italy. I am a frequent speaker at national and international conferences. I enjoy the contact with referring veterinarians, nurses and clients a lot and for me oncology is a very intense but rewarding field within veterinary medicine.
