Name: Roxy

Signalment: 11 year old FS DSH

Radiologist's Description: The renal pelvis is moderately dilated with anechoic fluid (wide arrow). The renal papillary crests bordering the dilated pelvis are also thickened and echogenic (thin arrow). The kidney is small and significant loss of corticomedullary distinction is also apparent. The renal cortex is also mildly, uniformly increased in echogenicity. Conclusions: Moderate pyelectasia with papillary crest thickening report above pyelonephritis. Scarring secondary to prior inflammation can also account for these changes. Mild to moderate chronic renal changes.

Definitive Diagnosis: US/Clinical Dx: Pyelonephritis. USG pyelocentesis: Culture and sensitivity revealed mildly resistant Proteus mirabilis.
