Name: Max H
Signalment: 4 year old MN Yorkshire Terrier
Radiologist's Description: The proximal right limb of the pancreas is moderately enlarged with a markedly hypoechoic, coarse parenchyma. The omental and mesenteric fat bordering the pancreas is heteroechoic and faintly shadowing (arrow). Regional adhesions of the echogenic fat to the pancreatic serosa likely account for the peripherally scalloped appearance of the pancreas. Power flow Doppler demonstrates increased pancreatic parenchymal perfusion. The adjacent descending duodenum is moderately thick walled. Conclusions: Severe acute pancreatitis with an hyperemic parenchyma, marked peripancreatic inflammation and adhesions and adjacent duodenitis.
Definitive Diagnosis: US/Clinical Dx: Pancreatitis resolved with therapy. Assessed with follow-up sonogram 3 weeks later.
