Canine - Adrenal - Addisonian Adrenal

Name: Bailey K

Signalment: 5 year old FS Mixed Breed

Radiologist's Description: The left adrenal gland is markedly reduced in size and bordered by echogenic fat (wide arrow). The left renal artery serves as an appropriate landmark. The shape of the adrenal gland is considered to be within normal limits and regional distinction between cortex and medulla appears to be maintained. Conclusions: Small left adrenal gland with subtle bordering inflammation compatible with Addison's disease secondary to active immune mediated destruction of the cortex.

Definitive Diagnosis: US/Clinical Dx: Adrenal atrophy due to Addison's disease. ACTH stmulation Pre: 0.5 ug/dl, Post 0.5 ug/dl.
